Paddy Lane is a Quaker activist, carpenter, and peacebuilder whose life and work have centered on nonviolence, human rights, and accompaniment. Known for a quiet, thoughtful, and strategic approach, she has helped individuals and organizations translate shared values into practical action.

Lane has contributed to international peace initiatives, including Witness for Peace in Nicaragua and Peace Brigades International. In 1984, she joined Lutheran pastor Daniel Long and Catholic priest Peter Hinde in founding Christians for Peace in El Salvador (CRISPAZ), a faith-based organization that builds relationships of solidarity between communities in El Salvador and abroad through mutual accompaniment.

Her influence is reflected in attentive listening, perceptive questions, and effective organizing. Colleagues remember her as observant and encouraging—someone who recognized potential in others and helped them find meaningful ways to advance peace and justice.

The Reverend Daniel Long is a Lutheran pastor and peace advocate whose ministry has focused on human rights, solidarity, and accompaniment in Central America. Shaped by the civil rights and antiwar movements, he later became active in Hispanic ministry, liberation theology, and the sanctuary movement.

In 1984, Long co-founded CRISPAZ with Paddy Lane and Father Peter Hinde, creating educational delegations and accompaniment programs in El Salvador. He later served as a missionary there, directing the Lutheran University’s Pastoral Center and supporting refugee communities. In Guatemala, he represented the World Council of Churches in the organized return of refugees following decades of civil war.

After returning to the United States, Long served Lutheran congregations and community organizations in Pennsylvania while remaining connected to CRISPAZ. In 2021, he and his wife, Kirsten Helin, moved to Denmark.
