Position: Economics for People Program Coordinator

Economics for People Program: The Economics for People (EPP) is a program of Christians for Peace in El Salvador (CRISPAZ) that seeks to promote economic justice and just economic relationships through Fair Trade, specifically working directly with more than 20 artisan groups in El Salvador and marketing their products in the United States.

Position Description:
The coordinator of the EPP is primarily responsible for management of the program including The People’s Market (our line of Fair Trade handcrafts from El Salvador). The ideal candidate will have both business management experience and vision for the viability of fair trade business. S/he will have a deep commitment to working toward peace through the changing of economic relationships.

Areas of Responsibility:

• Overall functioning and management (including financial) of the EPP program
• Communication with producers in El Salvador with support of in-country staff
• Importing of the People’s Market line of crafts from El Salvador
• Customer relations and marketing of People’s Market products in the United States
• Responsible for updating and revising product information in catalog, stores online, and inventory software
• Coordination with consignment sellers around the United States

Requirements:
The EPP coordinator will have the following skills and experience:

• Demonstrated knowledge of marketing and business skills
• General knowledge of global trade issues, specifically fair trade
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Attention to details of the program with a broad vision of organizational needs
• Experience in working in a team and with consensus decision-making models
• Ability to travel to El Salvador for annual board meeting.

The EPP Coordinator will demonstrate:

• Commitment to peace with justice, solidarity, and accompaniment of the Salvadoran people from a perspective of faith.
• Commitment to the CRISPAZ mission, CRISPAZ unity, and vision.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with volunteers, staff, Board members, people and groups with whom he/she has contacts and/or working relationships.
• A vision for changing economic relationships between the people of the United States and the people of El Salvador.


Organizational Relationships:
The EPP coordinator will be hired and supervised by the US country coordinator and evaluated by other staff and volunteers with whom s/he works. Applications for this position are reviewed by the US and ES country coordinators, the Boston team and, when appropriate, the El Salvador team.

The EPP coordinator will make decisions regarding the program using the consensus decision-making model of CRISPAZ.
